Joy of Txt books

Three self-published books featuring text messages from this site are now available to download.

The Joy of Txt, Dear Sydney and Sydney Stories are collections of the best text messages I’ve found over the years. This is the first time they have been available online. Head over to the books page for more information.

[Site update]

Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few months. Other projects (not to mention my day job) have been keeping me busy.

Believe it or not there has been some activity behind the scenes. I’ve self-published another book of text messages about Sydney. This is the biggest yet and will be available to download (along with my previous two books) from the Book page tomorrow.

Some readers may remember that waaaay back in February I held an exhibition of text messages. I have updated the exhibition page with photos and a pdf of the catalogue. The catalogue features descriptions of many texts on this site. If you’ve ever been curious about the story behind some of these messages you can check it out by clicking on the Exhibition link above.

I was also interviewed by Australian ABC radio in February. Expect to see that on the exhibition page in the next week or so, along with an updated Statistics page (which is the most popular page on this site).

Thanks for visiting. Thanks also to Andrew for his enthusiasm about this project.

[Site update]

The site has been a little quiet lately due to the fact that I’ve been working on a Joy of Txt print project.

The 8 page self-published book is called Seven Days In Sydney. It is a collection of 82 text messages about life in the city. It also includes a graph of 272 Sydney-themed messages sorted by subject.

I’ve posted some images from the book below. The print run was limited to 25 and there are still a few copies left (AUS $5 + postage). Please send me an email (anthony@joyoftxt.com) if you would like a copy or a free pdf of the book.

[Update 19 October 2008: the book is now out of print, but you can download a pdf from the books page]

Finally, a quick thanks to everyone who came up and said hi at the MCA Zine Fair on Sunday. It was a fantastic day. I’ll have a stall (and hopefully a new book) at the upcoming Kinokuniya Zine Fair in Sydney on 28 June. Hope to see you there!

Cheers,
Anthony

Hot or not

My mother needs to learn when it is or is not acceptable to wear hot pants.
Hint: not if I am home.

The exhibition is free and – as it’s also my 30th birthday – drinks will be provided. There will also be limited edition prints for sale.
